Sophie Gray gains Wolverhampton win

12 February 2018

SOPHIE Gray became the latest winner to carry the colours of Lord Lloyd-Webber when taking the 1m4f maiden at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening.

Trained by John Gosden, Sophie Gray is a daughter of Dansili and homebred mare Susan Stroman. She is a close relation to many of the stud’s leading lights including multiple Group 1 winner The Fugue in addition to Summoner and Compton Admiral.

Sophie Gray was having her third career start on Saturday and she has showed marked improvement up in trip to win convincingly in the hands of Kieran O’Neill.

She was always to the fore under O’Neill and was well positioned to strike on turning for home. She hit the front at the furlong marker and powered clear to win by four and a half lengths.
