The Fugue foals Dubawi filly

18 January 2016

ALL at Watership Down Stud were delighted to welcome The Fugue’s first foal, a filly by Dubawi, in the early hours of Sunday, 17 January.

The brown filly was born at 3.10am and both she and her mother are doing well.

A daughter of Dansili, The Fugue joined the Watership Down Stud broodmare band last season following a tremendous career on the racetrack.

Trained by John Gosden, she won four Group 1s and just shy of £2,000,000 in prizemoney.

Her victory in the 2014 Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot will live long in the memory where she beat a stellar field including the likes of Treve, Magician and Mukhadram in a course record time.

This filly comes from one of Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber’s most successful families. Her great-grand-dam Sumoto was purchased back in 2000 and bred two Group 1 winners in Summoner and Compton Admiral.

Sumoto also bred Twyla Tharp who was second in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes and is dam of The Fugue.
