Dar Re Mi foals lovely Dubawi filly
25 March 2015
THERE is exciting news regarding Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber’s multiple Group 1-winning mares Dar Re Mi and The Fugue. Dar Re Mi gave birth to a filly foal on Sunday (March 22). It was a fourth foal for the daughter of Singspiel, who won three Group 1s including the Dubai Sheema Classic.
Dar Re Mi's first foal, by Oasis Dream named De Treville, sold to Charlie Gordon-Watson for 850,000gns as a yearling. Trained by Andre Fabre, he has Classic aspirations in 2015 having won a maiden at Chantilly and also finished second in a Group 3.
Her second foal is also a Dubawi filly and she has been named So Mi Dar. She is due to join Dar Re Mi’s trainer John Gosden.
Dar Re Mi has a yearling colt by World Champion Frankel and is due for a return visit to Dubawi.
Simon Marsh, general manager of Watership Down Stud said: “Dar Re Mi was an exceptional race filly and has already proven herself to be an exciting broodmare.
“We are very pleased with her Dubawi foal. She is a full sister to our two-year-old So Mi Dar, who looks a lovely prospect and is due to enter training shortly.”
The Fugue, who retired in 2014, has been scanned in foal Dubawi. The daughter of Dansili won four times at the top level including her magnificent victory in last season’s Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
She had the likes of Treve, Mukhadram and Magician in her wake that day when smashing the course record, earning her the accolade of leading older turf performer over ten furlongs for the year.
As Darley’s flagship sire, Dubawi needs no introduction. His stock have hit the heights both in the sales ring and on the racetrack and he is an exciting covering for The Fugue.
Marsh added: “The Fugue has done terrifically well since returning to the stud and we are delighted that she has scanned in foal to Dubawi.
“He is a wonderful sire and we felt he would suit The Fugue.”
